“WASTE REIMAGINED.
ENERGY REBORN.“
This is the essence of CARMA-H2. But what does it mean?
Well, it’s not just a tagline; it’s a vision: the idea that what we usually consider waste can become clean, locally produced energy.
Across Europe, facilities like the Arazuri wastewater treatment plant in Navarra generate biogas from the treatment process. Yet much of this valuable resource remains unused.
CARMA-H2 steps in here: transforming biogas into high-purity hydrogen and food-grade quality CO₂ through an innovative technology, the protonic membrane reformer (bioPMR). Compact, modular, and decentralised, it streamlines what traditional hydrogen production achieves only through multiple, energy-intensive steps.
In this first edition of our newsletter, we invite you to explore the journey we are covering together. Inside, you will find:
- our project introduction video, offering a concise glimpse into CARMA-H2’s mission and ambition;
- the CARMA-H2 leaflet, providing a closer look at the bioPMR concept and its benefits;
- the first on-site interviews from Arazuri, sharing local perspectives from the pilot installation;
- our participation in the European Hydrogen Innovation Cluster, joining forces with sister projects to accelerate clean hydrogen deployment.
CARMA-H2 is more than a project: it marks the beginning of a new approach to hydrogen production, one rooted in circularity, community, and practical innovation.
We are excited to take you with us as this story unfolds, so do not miss the first edition of the project newsletter!
